February is "I Love to Read" month. In this photo Mr. Valentine came to read to these St. Pius X second graders as a mystery reader. We will be having several different readers through February.
Today is the 100th day of school - our kindergarteners at St. Pius X decided to dress up as if they are 100 years old. They had alot of fun today.

The two first place winners are: Lukas Singer, 8th grader at St. Francis of Assisi School, and Colin Niwagaba, 7th grader at Holy Spirit Catholic School. The runner up is Elena Meves, 6th grader at St. John the Evangelist/St. Pius X.

Our Kindergarten class at St. Pius is busy having fun getting ready for Christmas by making Gingerbread Houses.
St. John students participated in the "Adopt a Family" service project during Advent. This project focuses on families that "slip through the net" of programs that are available in the community. Students bring in gift cards for food, clothing, and gasoline. They also bring in toiletries such as brushes, shampoo, toothbrushes and many other items that some of us take for granted. Jesus is truly alive in the children and adults of St. John the Evangelist/St. Pius X Catholic School and the entire Rochester Catholic Schools Community.
Students at St. John’s competed in the school-wide Spelling Bee. Congratulations to Elena Meves, Avery Epp, and Rayanne Danso. All three students will compete at the District Spelling Bee on January 11th at Lourdes High School.
Our students from St. John Student Council served a meal this week at the Hope Lodge. Setting an example of the spirit of giving and serving the community.
St. Pius had an Anti-Bullying Assembly on Dec. 1. Just a gathering to review our Olweus program and encourage kids to get excited about being a HERO (here everyone respects others) at school!!
St. Pius students went to the Advent prayer service this morning.

The Olmsted County Public Health Nurse came to the St. Pius X kindergarten room to give a hand washing lesson.
As a school, we are blessed to have so many adults that selflessly give their time and talents to serve our students and community on a daily basis. Did you know that we also have staff members that selflessly served our country? Thank you to Mr. Leibovich (Marine Corp) and Mrs. Zilka (Army) for your service to our country.
The St. Pius X Kindergarteners practiced sorting and graphing skeleton bones. It was lots of fun!

On October 4th - the Feast of St. Francis, the St. John the Evangelist/ St. Pius X School community along with Fr. Scepaniak, recognized Sister Mary Margaret and Sister Dale. Thank you ladies for your time and talent in our school.
Rochester Catholic Schools had a special half-time presentation for our fans at the Homecoming football game - our new Eagle logo was revealed for the first time!
Together, Rochester Catholic Schools raised $2,788.59 which will go to help Catholic schools rebuild, reopen and re-enroll students!
Thank you to these wonderful people who work hard every school day to serve tasty lunches to students and staff!!
