Welcome to St. Francis of Assisi School – a preschool through grade 8 school that serves the NE and SE neighborhoods of Rochester. Founded by the Franciscan Sisters in 1952, St. Francis of Assisi School currently is home to 382 students. Part of the Rochester Catholic School (RCS) system, we recognize our place in the educational mission of the Catholic Church. Working in close partnership with families seeking a faith-based education, we learn together about our Catholic faith and how to live it in the world today. St. Francis of Assisi, our patron saint, continues to provide a strong role model for us of being a peacemaker and finding the divine in all of God's creation.
Our monthly focus on a virtue and learning about saints whose lives exemplified that virtue continues to be the focus of growing in holiness. Weekly celebrations of Mass, daily prayer and monthly Adoration offer consistent opportunities to celebrate our Catholic faith
We work with the Diocese of Winona to align curriculum and assessment. This work, guided by the University of Notre Dame, provides academic rigor, collaboration, creativity and prepares our students for the 21st century. Project Lead the Way, a 1:1 Chromebook initiative in grades 6, 7, & 8, and many extra and co-curricular activities support the physical, emotional, spiritual, academic and social aspects of our education offerings.
We invite you to visit our school and see how you might become part of our family as we journey together in faith, knowledge and service. Please contact me for more information and to arrange a tour. I would be delighted to meet you.
