Welcome International Students and Families!

Lourdes High School is a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certified school. International students who wish to study at LHS must apply for an F-1 Visa. LHS may accept new international students in grades 9, 10, or 11 with the option of re-applying for subsequent years. Students acceptance at mid-semester or mid-academic year will be contingent on academic progress and scheduling.

Application Deadlines:

  • Entrance for Fall 2024: International students entering grades 9 -12. First day of school is August 26, 2024. All application materials must be submitted by May 1, 2024

  • Entrance for Spring 2025: International students entering grades 9-11. All application materials must be submitted by December 1, 2024.

Academic Entrance: International students must complete a recent English proficiency test through the TOEFL iBT exam. LHS does not offer any English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. They should be able to read, write, and understand English well enough to participate in all school activities. International students must also have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale in order to be accepted at LHS.

Tuition and Fees: If the student is accepted, the student is solely responsible for paying tuition and any additional fees. Students and their families will be responsible for any additional fees that occur during the school year (lunch, school uniform, Physical Education uniform, retreats, dances, etc). In addition, students participating in athletics or other co-curricular activities are required to pay a participation fee. Students are required to abide by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) rules regarding participation for international students. International students will not be eligible for financial assistance. If a student begins a semester, the student will be charged for the full semester.

Housing and Boarding: Lourdes High School is a day school program with no boarding options. Students must find their own host families or work through an agency for placement. Students are required to live with an adult 25 years of age or older. The student must provide a U.S. address before an I-20 can be issued.

International students must follow all LHS policies and procedures. Please see the Student Handbook for details. Students must follow attendance policies. A student’s visa status is dependent upon making a good-faith effort to succeed academically at Lourdes High School.
