Grades 4 - Traveling Only
- Traveling player assignments will be based on total numbers, ability, and the uniqueness of the class.
ALL 4th GRADE BASKETBALL PLAYERS - THE NUMBER 1 PRIORITY IS FOR THE PLAYER TO ENJOY THEMSELVES AS THEY COMPETE, DEVELOP AND CONTRIBUTE TO A TEAM. Coaches will focus on the development of all players. Playing time will be as close to equal as possible for all teams. Over the course of a season, all players should receive ample playing time.
Grades 5-6 Traveling Only
- Traveling player assignments will be based on total numbers, ability, and the uniqueness of the class.
At the 5th-6th grade levels, player development and enjoyment of the team experience are still top priorities. In addition to those priorities coaches will focus on building off of the foundational basketball skills and knowledge learned at the 4th grade level that contribute to being competitive. Coaches will continue to focus on the development of all players as well as the development of the overall team. Though every player is guaranteed playing time, this does not mean equal playing time in every game. Over the course of a season, all players should receive ample playing time.
Grades 7-8
- ALL players will be required to play on the HVL Lourdes Team, but not required to participate in Traveling practices or tournaments. Traveling events such as practice and tournaments will typically take place on the weekends.
- More emphasis will be placed on performance and competition for both the HVL and Traveling seasons. Coaches will continue to focus on development. Though every player is guaranteed playing time, this does not mean equal playing time in every game. Over the course of a season, all players should receive ample playing time.
- Team sizes will be based on the uniqueness of the class.
Overall
- A consistent practice schedule will be set up and given out ahead of time.
- If you are interested in coaching a team, please email activities@rcsmn.org. An interview process will happen for all coaches.
