Principal's Message

Welcome to Holy Spirit Catholic School - a preschool through eighth grade school that serves families in west and northwest Rochester. Founded in 1994, Holy Spirit Catholic School is now home to nearly 300 students. Part of the Rochester Catholic School (RCS) system, we strive to inspire a Christ-centered culture of excellence where students grow in wisdom, courage, and character.

We believe that all people deserve to be loved and respected as people made in God’s image. Guided by the teachings of Christ and the anti-bullying program, Olweus, staff and students work cooperatively to communicate that all students matter.

At Holy Spirit Catholic School we believe that we reach our full potential as members of a welcoming, supportive, and joyful community. We foster this community through multi-age mass and learning buddies, all school events, assemblies, and traditions, as well as the nurturing of a virtue-based learning environment.

We believe that each one of us has the responsibility to develop our gifts and talents and share them for the common good. In addition to instruction in math, language arts, social studies, science, religion, choral music, and physical education, students also have the opportunity to explore instrumental music, extracurricular sports, world languages, Project Lead the Way, Lego Robotics, and Math League. Leadership opportunities developed through Student Council allow students to actively shape their school experience and deepen their faith and sense of community.

Most importantly, we believe that Jesus Christ is our model for prayer, service, and how we build relationships. Wednesday liturgies are the highlight of each week where all students have the opportunity to participate in liturgical ministries and engage in parish life. Frequent service projects allow students opportunities to live their faith and put the Gospel into action. Integration of Catholic teaching throughout the curriculum demonstrates how faith connects to all areas of life.

We invite you to visit our school and learn more about how you might become part of the Holy Spirit Catholic School family. Please contact me for more information and to arrange a tour. I can’t wait to meet you and share the Holy Spirit Catholic School experience with you.

Sincerely,
Christopher Smith, Principal
