Julia was nominated by the Social Studies Department because she is an exceptional student who is always pushing herself to further her learning. Julia has proven herself time and time again in her classes, however, this was most visible in Economics. Throughout Economics Julia worked tirelessly to understand the content in its entirety. Often Julia would come in with questions that connected the concepts to other information in the course, or took the concepts and applied them at a higher level. Julia is not only hardworking but is also caring and supportive. It was common for her to work with other students in the class and support them in their studies. Julia never became frustrated with helping her peers or never became
frustrated by the class. She continued to push herself and her peers forward no matter
how challenging the content was.
Julia has notably been involved in Marching Band, Pep Band, Pit Orchestra, Hi-Lighters Jazz
Band, Winter Drumline, Diving, Track and Field, Debate, Math League, WHO Club, SADD,
Yearbook and National Honor Society.
Julia has received many honors and awards which include: National Merit Commended Scholar, National Honor Society, HVL All-Conference Band, All-Conference Track and Field, All-State Track and Field, Academic All-State Track and Field, “Most Valuable Field Athlete” Track and Field, Honorable Mention All-Conference Diving, 6 Letters in Diving, 4 Letters in Track, 3
Letters in Band.
After graduating from Lourdes, Julia will most likely attend St. Olaf and study math or science.
Congratulations to Julia Cordes for being selected as Kiwanis of Rochester Student of the Month!
