We had a fun, exciting, and productive week here at the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Middle School celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Three of our students organized a dodgeball tournament to collect donations for The Landing to help people in need. Our Penny Wars raised over $1,600 dollars to be donated to Seeds of Wisdom, St. Vincent de Paul, and Meals on Wheels. We took fun field trips around town on Wednesday and our students had a blast. We had dress-up days each day and the students showed off their creativity (it was fun to see how the kids think we adults dressed as children on 80-90's day). And, we ended our week with movies and popcorn this afternoon. Tuesday was our annual Day of Giving. The generosity of our community was on full display as RCS raised over $140,000. The final numbers are not in yet, but at St. John we raised enough money to unlock a $10,000 matching donation from a very generous parishioner. Thank you to all who contributed and/or helped spread the word. Great things are happening here. Matt Langsdale, Principal Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind (Hebrews 13:16). |

I LOVE TO READ month - February 2022 February is “I Love to Read” month. That's right: an entire month dedicated to promoting a love of reading and being read to. All month we will have tables in the lobby with free books that students may help themselves to. If you have middle school appropriate books at home that you no longer use and would like to donate for students - please send them to the office. We will make these available for students and to encourage reading. CAMP SUMMIT - AUGUST 1-4 Middle School Families, are you planning for summer yet!? We would love for your middle schooler to join us at Camp Summit 2022 this summer! Camp Summit is an overnight Catholic adventure camp for middle school youth entering grades 6-8. Nestled in the bluffs of Lanesboro, Minnesota, Camp Summit provides a fun, formative, and faith-filled experience for parish groups throughout the Diocese of Winona-Rochester. St. John's is excited to bring a parish group this year and would love to share more information with you. Please reach out to your parish or to Megan Rodriguez at St. John's (mrodriguez@sj.org) if you have a child interested in joining us for camp or if you are an adult interested in helping at Camp Summit! You can find out more information here: https://www.campsummitwinona.org/ Pope Francis has called a synod for the years 2021-2023. And you are invited to participate! Synod is a tradition of the church where we take time to walk together as a People of God. The aim of the Synod is to discern how we are “living the faith” and how, we as a Church, are achieving this together. Please contact your parish to learn more about how to participate in the Synod if you haven't already. Parishioners from St. John's are invited to gather on February 12th from 10:00am to 12:00pm, we are going to gather to listen with one another and answer the question of how our journey together takes place on different levels. The meeting will consist of prayer, a reflection offered by Father Mahon, and small group discussion centered around questions. The questions will be available before the meeting for your personal reflection. We will be collecting the different responses to send to Bishop Quinn. This meeting is open to everyone in our community; we invite you to participate either in person or virtually by registering for the event: https://sj.org/parish-synod/ Reminder about Distant Learning Distant Learning is used for COVID related instances or in the event of extenuating circumstances when approved through Mr. Langsdale. It is not an option when being gone only a day or two. February Menus Please click here for the February Lunch Menu. Please click here for the February Breakfast Menu.
