Principal's Message 3rd and 4th grade students On Thursday, we were so blessed to be able to host our families at St. Pius X School for our Christmas concert. This celebration of the upcoming birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, which is the ultimate reason why we exist as a school community, was a wonderful way for us to gather together for the first time in almost two years! I want to send a special thank you to Mrs. Sherman for her hard work in planning, organizing, arranging, and directing the performances. I also want to thank our teachers for their flexibility, especially over the past two weeks. For anyone who was unable to attend our Christmas concert, there are links to the performances on our HSA Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/stpiusxschoolhsa or you can email me at djenson@rcsmn.org and I would be happy to send you the link. Just let me know if you would like the PreK-grade 2 performance, the grade 3-5 performance, or both. With Christmas break starting next week, we will not have another school broadcast email until Friday, January 7th. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas Holiday. May God be with you Always,
Dave Jenson

We will have a non-uniform Christmas School Spirit day on Tuesday, December 21st. Students may wear Christmas themed clothing or pajamas. Christmas break begins on Wednesday, December 22nd through Monday, January 3rd. School will resume on Tuesday, January 4th. In order to best utilize our staffing, our preschool morning care will start at 7 AM. If you need to drop off your child earlier than that, please let Mr. Jenson know and care will be provided on that day. Preschool parents, please use the following link to register for before and/or after school care for the coming weeks of 1/4-1/20: https://forms.gle/TwEmJzFdR4wWffuQ7 If you have a student in grades 3-5, then the GATEway Science Fair is for you! This is your child’s chance to learn what it is like to be a scientist! We welcome all students - you do not need to be a GATEway member nor in a gifted services program. Before the Science Fair, think of a topic that interests you, then do an experiment at home to learn more about it. Present your experiment with pictures, words, and graphs on a display board. Bring your board to the Science Fair to explain your project to reviewers who are science professionals in our community. You'll see a fun Science Museum of Minnesota presentation and receive a certificate of participation, written reviews of your project, a snack, and a cool t-shirt! The GATEway Science Fair will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Mayo Clinic Gonda Building. Register through Community Education online at www.rochesterce.org/register, or by mailing in the registration form which can be printed from our website or downloaded here. The $12 registration fee includes a t-shirt if registration is mailed by February 2, 2022. Register early because space is more limited this year due to COVID. You can find more information about the GATEway Science Fair at www.rochestergateway.com including ideas, guides and other helpful information. Financial assistance may be available to help with the costs of preparing a project. Contact Dee at 507-722-2820, or gatewaysciencefair@gmail.com with questions. Our school picture retake day will be coming up on Friday, January 14th. This is a non-uniform day for students. If you would like to order photos online, go to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ and enter our Picture Day ID: EVTK96ZS8 for St. Pius X School. We also have paper order forms available in the office if you prefer. Please click here for more information on position 1 and click here for position 2. The health office nurse has a flexible schedule and requires an LPN or RN. If you are interested in volunteering, we have options available every day in the lunchroom or various days in the school library. In order to volunteer, you must have completed a Virtus safe environment training within the past five years and have an up to date background check completed. Please contact Mrs. Hyke in the office if you need help getting signed up for either Virtus or to have a background check. Thank you! Please send your child to school dressed for the cooler weather. Jackets, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots will be needed. We also ask that you label all of your students belongings. We try to have outdoor recess as much as the weather permits. When picking up your child in the afternoon from After School Care, please call our Google Voice number at 507-218-7873. Mr. Amundson or the adult leader will let you know to pick up at Door 5 by the gym or outside by the playground. |
