Weekly School Broadcast Principal's Message 5th grade mentors with Mrs. W. Kindergarten
At St. Pius X School and all of the Rochester Catholic Schools, we are proud of our students for being wonderful young people with integrity who genuinely care about one another. One example of the way our community shares our values of encouraging excellence and helping to shape each student's character by living out our faith is in the way older students mentor younger students. Our fifth graders exemplified this today by reading Halloween stories to Mrs. Wiederholt's Kindergarten class. I enjoyed listening in and also observing the attentiveness that our younger students showed to the "big kids." These student interactions develop the positive culture of lifelong learning that we hold dearly here at St. Pius X. I hope that you and everyone in our school community has a safe weekend, with many memories being made.
School News Click here for an informational flyer for Byron/Lourdes Co-Op Youth Wrestling. Students in preschool - grade 6 qualify. Join the rec program or the competitive program today! In order to best utilize our staffing, our preschool morning care will start at 7 AM. If you need to drop off your child earlier than that, please let Mr. Jenson know and care will be provided on that day. Preschool parents, please use the following link to register for before and/or after school care for the coming weeks of 11/1-11/23: https://forms.gle/MChEoFgPyaHC3SFF9 We are collecting gently used winter coats, snow pants, hats & mittens/gloves. The items will be kept here at St. Pius X School for students who need to use them. We will be collecting items until Friday November 12th. Be sure to check your closets for winter items that no longer fit your kiddos and bring them to St. Pius X from now until Friday November 12th. There are two colorful totes to collect the items, one on each floor that your student can place the donated items or bring them to Mr. Jenson in the office. If your child is absent for two or fewer days of school, we do not preemptively send home their school work. If your child is ill, we believe that their time is best spent recuperating. If their absence is due to a family event, we believe that this time should be spent together with family. For absences due to illness lasting longer than two school days, please connect with your child’s teacher via email to communicate a plan to pick up your child’s school work. Starting next week, we would like to invite our parents to attend school Mass in person. We will have Wednesday school Mass at 8:45 AM on October 20th and 27th; to celebrate All Saints Day, we will have Mass on Monday, November 1st at 9 AM, with no Mass on Wednesday. There will be a prayer service in lieu of a Mass on Wednesday, November 10th at 8:45 AM. Masks are required in the school building and in the church and at this time, we would like parents to sit in the pews at the back of the middle sections. When calling or emailing the front office if your child will be absent for the day, please briefly describe the reason for the absence. We are required to document all student absences in order to be in compliance with the state; letting us know initially will save a followup communication from the school. With our first bell ringing at 8:15 AM this year, please kindly notify the front office by 9 AM if your child will be absent or arriving late to school. When picking up your child in the afternoon from After School Care, please call our Google Voice number at 507-218-7873. Mr. Amundson or the adult leader will let you know to pick up at Door 5 by the gym or outside by the playground.
