A Message from the Principal
Another week of beautiful weather and another awesome week at St. Francis of Assisi School! Although it was a shortened week, it was packed with both excitement and business. It was great to see all you parents both on Jr. High Parent Information Night Tuesday and also last night for our K-5th grade students. A lot of the information that was shared those nights will also be shared here today. I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful fall weather!
Blessings,
School News As a reminder, please do not park along 11th Ave during dismissal. There are signs along the street indicating there is no parking between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. It makes it very difficult and dangerous to exit the parking lot safely with cars along the street. Thank you for your support on this matter. In the morning, we are asking parents to say goodbye to their children in front of the church and not walk them down to the back playground. We have noticed that the playground setting seems to intensify separation anxiety for some of our students. We do have a paraprofessional out in front of the church in the morning that will monitor your children on the way to the playground. Thank you for helping with this. This week we our new staff spotlight illuminates over our Junior High Social Studies Teacher Ms. Jenevieve Jaax! Here is a little more about Ms. J! "Growing up in the Catholic school system in Kansas City, Ms. Jaax is thrilled to be a part of the RCS family! Graduating in December 2020, she is excited to begin her career teaching social studies at St. Francis. Ms. Jaax spends her time baking, playing board games, doing arts and crafts, quilting, and playing with her cat. Ms. Jaax always looks forward to trips home to Missouri to visit with family, and trips across the state and country to visit friends. She has a travel bug, and is always looking for a new adventure, both abroad or on a more local scale." Our lunch menu has been revised. Please see the new September lunch menu here. Junior high students will be offered two different entree options beginning on September 20th. Kindergarten through grade 6 will continue to be offered the first menu entree listed each day. Our HSA volunteer link is up and running! We are looking forward to seeing many of you at different functions throughout the school year! Please click on the link to get started! Our lunchroom volunteer sign-up is active! Please use the link here to sign-up to help out! We will post a new sign-up every month. Next week, library volunteering will be on the broadcast as well! The Family Fun Run is tomorrow Saturday, September 11th! Put on your running shoes and be sure to arrive at Resurrection Church before the start time of 9:00 for the 5K run and 9:05 for the one mile walk. We will have a short prayer before the run begins at 8:50 am. The Kindergarten picnic will be next week on Thursday, September 16 from 5:30 - 7:00 on the playground. Click here for important details. Moms in Prayer is a group of Moms praying for the students, staff and families at St. Francis of Assisi School. Each week we focus our prayers towards one of our classrooms and the prayer requests of those students. For now we will meet via Zoom on Tuesday mornings at 9:30am. We hope to eventually meet after drop off before school mass. We will be praying an intentional rosary and should take about 20 minutes. If you would like to join us in prayer contact Charlotte Bruining at shaarchar@hotmail.com for the zoom link.
