Weekly School Broadcast Principal's Message
On Wednesday this week, we celebrated our May crowning of Mary. I would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Anderson's 2nd grade class for leading us at Mass. Many 2nd graders wore special First Communion outfits and the class processed up to the altar to present flowers to Mary before our school Mass. In the Rochester Catholic Schools, we have a special devotion to Jesus' Mother Mary; the Foundress of the Sisters of St. Francis, Mother Alfred Moes, chose to have the school she opened in Rochester be named The Academy of Our Lady of Lourdes, which is now Lourdes High School. With the celebration of Mother's Day this past Sunday, our students did a wonderful job carrying this spirit of gratitude and joy into our May crowning.
School News We are thrilled to be welcoming the Graduating Class of 2034 to St. Pius X School for Kindergarten in the fall! There will be a virtual Kindergarten Round Up presentation shared with our Kindergarten families via email, and our current preschool students who are moving on to Kindergarten next year will have an opportunity to visit the Kindergarten classroom with Ms. Heydon next week. Current St. Pius X Preschoolers moving up to Kindergarten will bring home their Kinder“garden” packet, and families with an incoming Kindergartener not currently here for preschool can come pick up their packet between 7:30-4:00 any day next week. Monday: M is for Movie Day Tuesday: N is for No Homework & wear a Necktie or Necklace Wednesday: O is for Outside Learning Thursday: P is for Pajama Day Friday: Q is for Quietly (Quit class for extra recess) Our last day for preschool is Thursday, June 3rd. This is a regular schedule day for drop off and pick up. Friday, May 21st will be a purple & gold school spirit non-uniform day. Due to ongoing Covid Restrictions, there will be no 5th-8th grade concert this May 18. Because we have not had the space to adequately distance for large group rehearsals, we have turned our focus to instrument technique and solo and small group playing. Students have been recorded playing their solos and ensembles and should have shared their videos with their families. If you haven't seen your child's video(s) please ask them about it! Band students have worked very hard this year and I am so proud of their accomplishments! "Totally Catholic Rocky Railway!" July 26-30th from 9:15-11am at St. Pius X We will once again have our ABC Countdown for the last 26 days of school. Starting Thursday, April 29th, each day has an activity, event, or theme and it progresses through the alphabet. Our first day is “A for Animal” - students may bring a small stuffed animal that fits in their backpack to school on April 29th.Click here for the complete countdown list.Your child will be bringing home a copy of the specific events for each day in their Friday folder. We are excited to be able to participate in two St. Pius X School traditions: a picnic day where we walk to Cooke Park, and early dismissal after Mass on the last day of school. We are still working on the final details. Our walk to Cooke Park will happen, weather dependent, sometime during the final week of school. The final date will be determined toward the end of May so we can attempt to get the best weather possible. On Friday, June 4th, we will celebrate Mass at 9:15 and then starting at 11 AM we will have early dismissal with our regular carline. Supervision will be provided at the school until noon if you are unable to pickup your child(ren) right away.
