Weekly School Broadcast Principal's Message Artwork from Mrs. Smith's class
Thank you to all of our parents, especially the hard work of the members of our Home & School Association, for the wonderful gifts and gestures for the faculty and staff at St. Pius X during Teacher Appreciation Week. It has certainly been a celebration of the dedication that our faculty and staff have shown to help our school community thrive. Our ABC countdown continues next week, with the understanding that learning doesn't stop when the school year ends. We believe that we are all lifelong learners, and that Jesus Christ is our model of how to live our lives.
School News Due to ongoing Covid Restrictions, there will be no 5th-8th grade concert this May 18. Because we have not had the space to adequately distance for large group rehearsals, we have turned our focus to instrument technique and solo and small group playing. Students have been recorded playing their solos and ensembles and should have shared their videos with their families. If you haven't seen your child's video(s) please ask them about it! Band students have worked very hard this year and I am so proud of their accomplishments! Monday: H is for Hat Tuesday: I is for Ice Pops (treat at school)
Friday: L is for Lollipop day (treat at school) Friday, May 14th will be a purple & gold school spirit non-uniform day. On Wednesday, May 12th, we will have a hot air balloon inflation demonstration in the St. Pius X Church parking lot. This is weather dependent; students in 5th grade have begun learning about the physics of hot air balloons and will also be coming around to other classrooms to teach a lesson to the other grades. In order to take advantage of this tremendous opportunity, we are inviting all St. Pius X students to come see the balloon. No students will be allowed to touch or climb into the balloon basket, but we still need to have a release of liability agreement signed for each student to give the balloon operator. This form will be in the Friday Folders from your classroom teacher. "Totally Catholic Rocky Railway!" July 26-30th from 9:15-11am at St. Pius X We will once again have our ABC Countdown for the last 26 days of school. Starting Thursday, April 29th, each day has an activity, event, or theme and it progresses through the alphabet. Our first day is “A for Animal” - students may bring a small stuffed animal that fits in their backpack to school on April 29th.Click here for the complete countdown list.Your child will be bringing home a copy of the specific events for each day in their Friday folder. We are excited to be able to participate in two St. Pius X School traditions: a picnic day where we walk to Cooke Park, and early dismissal after Mass on the last day of school. We are still working on the final details. Our walk to Cooke Park will happen, weather dependent, sometime during the final week of school. The final date will be determined toward the end of May so we can attempt to get the best weather possible. On Friday, June 4th, we will celebrate Mass at 9:15 and then starting at 11 AM we will have early dismissal with our regular carline. Supervision will be provided at the school until noon if you are unable to pickup your child(ren) right away.
System Activities Madi stepped up and learned a difficult piece of music at this year's Solo and Ensemble Festival, coming in for extra help, and grew tremendously as a performer. She has also been a steadfast member of Center Street Singers this year, and is working hard every day in rehearsals to better the groups she is part of. Alex continues to impress and improve as the season progresses, and has been medalist in our last three duels with scores of 79, 38 (9 holes), and 73. Alex is not phased by a poor shot or a poor hole with his ability to remain confident in his game, and the mental approach to overcome any adversity he faces on the course. Congratulations Alex!
