Weekly School Broadcast Principal's Message Ms. Heydon's Kindergarten class
As the calendar turns to May, the reality of the school year coming to a close is more obvious than the ever-changing Minnesota weather in April. For centuries, May Day has been a celebration of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, where the increasing daylight and warmth lead to the bounty of new growth and renewal. Let us all celebrate the natural beauty and joy that comes from spring, with the knowledge that Christ's resurrection has brought new life to us all. Alleluia!
School News The St. Pius X Students have been preparing music for our Spring Concert, To Strengthen, to Encourage, to Bless you - That’s What Friends are For. “A sweet friendship refreshes the soul.” Proverbs 27:9 Monday: C is for Crazy Hair Tuesday: D is for Dress Up day (spring concert)
Thursday: F is for Flashlight Day
Friday, May 7th will be a purple & gold school spirit non-uniform day. On Wednesday, May 12th, we will have a hot air balloon inflation demonstration in the St. Pius X Church parking lot. This is weather dependent; students in 5th grade have begun learning about the physics of hot air balloons and will also be coming around to other classrooms to teach a lesson to the other grades. In order to take advantage of this tremendous opportunity, we are inviting all St. Pius X students to come see the balloon. No students will be allowed to touch or climb into the balloon basket, but we still need to have a release of liability agreement signed for each student to give the balloon operator. This form will be in the Friday Folders from your classroom teacher. "Totally Catholic Rocky Railway!" July 26-30th from 9:15-11am at St. Pius X We will once again have our ABC Countdown for the last 26 days of school. Starting Thursday, April 29th, each day has an activity, event, or theme and it progresses through the alphabet. Our first day is “A for Animal” - students may bring a small stuffed animal that fits in their backpack to school on April 29th.Click here for the complete countdown list.Your child will be bringing home a copy of the specific events for each day in their Friday folder. We are excited to be able to participate in two St. Pius X School traditions: a picnic day where we walk to Cooke Park, and early dismissal after Mass on the last day of school. We are still working on the final details. Our walk to Cooke Park will happen, weather dependent, sometime during the final week of school. The final date will be determined toward the end of May so we can attempt to get the best weather possible. On Friday, June 4th, we will celebrate Mass at 9:15 and then starting at 11 AM we will have early dismissal with our regular carline. Supervision will be provided at the school until noon if you are unable to pickup your child(ren) right away. Does your 3rd-5th grader love to write or draw? Do they want to learn how to write a mystery, make amazing origami creations, or draw their own superheroes? If so, they should join us for the upcoming Young Authors, Young Artists (YAYA) conference! This year the conference will be held virtually during the week of May 10th. Participating students will virtually attend one or two live sessions during the school day, and will have the option to watch pre-recorded versions of four or five additional sessions. Please see the attached session descriptions for more information-note that the session schedule is still to be determined. The cost of the conference is $10 per family. However, we're hoping to have enough students sign up that it would make it feasible for us to purchase a school pass. If this does happen, school funds would be used and there would be no charge for participating students.
