A Message From the Principal
Each morning I receive an email devotional from The Catholic Company. It begins with a quote from a saint and then offers a reflection, scripture reading and application. This week, Wednesday, the quote was from Saint Jean Marie Vianney and has resonated with me the rest of the week: "Here is a rule for everyday life: Do not do anything which you cannot offer to God."
The school staff received four sessions of training/professional development with the Diversity Council this year. The conversations have been timely and have helped to reinforce the need for respect and understanding in our world. We work to educate our young people to be tolerant, honest, kind….and to recognize the divine in all they meet. This is not always the message they hear in our culture, music, social media, etc. Our young people are our future. We are blessed to be part of their formation and to continue in our partnership with you. Thanks, parents, for all you do to support Rochester Catholic Schools! I have heard numerous times as I give tours that prospective families have heard about the school from neighbors, co-workers and friends (YOU!). We are so appreciative.
Respectfully,
Barb Plenge
School News We will be broadcasting our carnival live from the parking lot at St. Francis of Assisi School on Friday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. Information will be shared next week in the Broadcast, on FaceBook, as well as in teacher newsletters the following week as to how you can access and be part of the raffle drawing. Come to the school parking lot and be present in person (while staying in your cars!). We will make this a fun event as we work within requirements of the covid mandates. Please note: all tickets, sold and unsold, need to be returned to school by May 7th. As we are planning for the 2021-2022 school year - please note that the school Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am. Our prayer is for restrictions to be lifted and to have the entire community able to celebrate in person. Teacher contracts for the 2021-2022 school year have been offered. We hope to have them signed and open positions posted by the beginning of May. Please keep this process in your prayers as our employees discern where they are being called next school year. Planning for our annual Fun Run is beginning. The tshirt is designed, the date has been set and wheels are in motion! We are looking for some volunteers to assist the day of the event. We will need volunteers to set up, handle day of race registrations, clean up and help with the event. Please contact the office if you would consider helping that morning.
