A Message from the Principal
March weather always brings surprises and a Monday inclement weather day added excitement to the week! As we enter this second half of Lent, it is not too late to embrace the prayer, fasting and almsgiving that are integral parts to this holy time of year. The Student Council has shared information with us about Operation Rice Bowl and Catholic Relief Services. Students may bring monetary donations at anytime. Our final collection will be March 23rd. Thank you for your generosity towards this collection.
Respectfully,
School News Mrs. Majewski is looking for some volunteers who would be willing to cover some new Guided Reading books. She will provide the materials and they will have been quarantined. Materials will be placed in a box and put in the vestibule for pickup and dropoff. Please email her at rmajewski@rcsmn.org if this interests you. Thank you for your help! The HSA will be chaired by Erin Cook and Josh Noser has agreed to step into the co-chair role again. Adam Palen will continue as Treasurer with Cassie Mueller as Secretary. Nichole Romo and Annie Leisenheimer will be the Parish reps. We will be looking at activities for next year and contacting people to see if they would be willing to chair events again. Please say ‘yes’ if you are contacted, or consider someone else who might be willing to step into a chair role. We are in need of several 7th grade parents who would help with the 8th grade graduation. There is a binder with great directions and there will be no in person reception. We have heard from three parents who are willing to help, but would like several more if possible. Please contact the office if you are available and willing! There will be no school on Friday, March 26th. This is a Professional Development Day for Teachers. Spring Break begins on Monday, March 29th. School resumes on Tuesday, April 6th. Although we have not resumed in person all school assemblies, Tuesday, March 23rd is our HERO day. Students may wear their HERO shirts with uniform bottoms as our third graders introduce us to the virtue for April - Forgiveness. This virtue is defined as “Pardoning those who offend you”. We will learn about St. Patrick, Blessed Margaret of Castello and St. Josephine Bakhita. Forgiveness is an important virtue to practice in our Olweus Bullying Prevention Program as forgiving those who offend us helps us move forward in relationships. The end of the quarter (March 25th) has traditionally been a Student Council sponsored theme day. This quarter’s theme is “Celebrity Day”. Come dressed as your favorite celebrity or wear your uniform if you choose not to participate. Plans are underway for our Annual school Raffle! The drawing will happen on May 7th, and we need your help to make the raffle a huge success once again! Please consider making a donation to this year's raffle. Click HERE for the details! Thank you for considering! Many of you know that Nathan Herber (K) was diagnosed with Stage 4 T cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in September 2018, He is being home-schooled this year and is enrolled for grade 1 in the fall. It has been a 2 1/2 year journey for their family. They credit the support of the school community and all the prayers for helping them through this time. Nathan's last treatment is scheduled for Thursday, March 25th. We would like to do a student and staff drive through celebration for them next week. Some families may like to make signs at home, cheering the family on, congratulating Nathan for completing treatment and reassuring them of our love and support. These signs should be brought to school on March 25th, and will be held up as the Herber family drives through the parking lot. We will also be making signs in school! We are thrilled to be able to celebrate in this small way with the Herber's.
