Weekly School Broadcast Principal's Message Courtesy of Mrs. Smith's 1st grade
As we continue on our Lenten journeys, I am reminded of Matthew 16:24, "Then Jesus told his disciples, 'If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.'" We have all heard the expression that each of us has a cross to bear; however, none of us carries this cross alone. It is through our faith that we believe Jesus is with each of us, as we are made in the image and likeness of God. We are also strengthened by our community of believers, whether at St. Pius X School or in your own place of worship, knowing that there are many people who will support us during turbulent times. During this school year, I cannot count the number of people who have reached out to me to ask what they could do for our school. On behalf of St. Pius X School, thank you for your support, generosity, and continued prayers.
School News The Rochester Rotary Club provided all RCS third grade students with dictionaries this week, along with a class presentation on how to use a dictionary. Thank you for promoting an attitude of lifelong learning in our students! With Rochester Public Schools resuming classes Monday through Friday for grades K-5 on March 1st, morning busing will now be available every morning Monday through Friday when the public schools are in session. Please be aware that there will not be social distancing on the buses and if any student on the bus tests positive for Covid-19, all people on the bus will be considered close contacts for quarantine purposes. There will be no school on Friday, March 5th for a staff professional development day. We will not have a non-uniform day next week. We will have a school spirit Purple & Gold Day on Friday, March 12th. If your family will be travelling for spring break, please be mindful of the RCS policy regarding a 48 hour quarantine after you return home. This allows for time in case there is a need for notification of a close contact to a confirmed case of Covid-19. For example, if your family returns home on Saturday at noon, the 48 quarantine would be in effect until noon on Monday. We are excited to implement the updated school day schedule next fall. With our first bell ringing at 8:15 AM, this will give us a school day start time of 8:25 AM and the school day will end at 3:05 PM. There are still some unknowns with morning transportation, as RPS transportation has not guaranteed us busing for the morning. However, the parents involved with our St. Pius X Home and School Association have offered to help assist in finding morning carpool options for our students who need it. Our before school care will still start at 6:30 AM and the end time for after school care will still be 6:00 PM. Please feel free to contact Mr. Jenson with any questions you might have about this change. The St. Pius X Home and School Association has a Facebook Page! If you aren’t a member already, you can use this link for school updates and to connect with other families at St. Pius X School: https://www.facebook.com/groups/stpiusxschoolhsa/
