Weekly School Broadcast Principal's Message Mrs. Sobotka on "Dress like a Teacher" day
School spirit abounds here at St. Pius X School, but especially so during Catholic Schools Week. Our students' efforts in fundraising for the Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota's Onward and Upward program has brought to life our belief that we see Christ in others and want to be Christ for others. While I am still breathing chocolate pudding through my nose after the pie eating contest today, the lasting impacts of nurturing a spirit of helping others will last a lifetime in our students. I am so grateful for your commitment to providing each of your children a Catholic education.
School News Thank you to everyone who has already registered their child(ren) for next school year. As of Friday, February 5th, we already have 83 students enrolled for next year at St. Pius X School, including 13 of our students who just started with us this school year! It is exciting to see our school community continue to thrive and grow moving forward. If you have any issues with online registration or if you know of any new families considering applying for next school year, please contact Mr. Jenson at djenson@rcsmn.org or 507-282-5161. This week we celebrated National School Counselors week. The Rochester Catholic School counselors are among 111,00 professional school counselors, both public and private, in the United States. Our RCS System has been fortunate to have an enlightened administration that has employed elementary school counselors for 28 years. This week is a good time to remind our families that we are here, with a variety of resources and experience, to help you navigate through academic, social and emotional realities of raising children. My name is Nelle Moriarty, and you can reach me through the school office or my email nmoriarty@rcsmn.org. The St. Pius X Home and School Association has a Facebook Page! If you aren’t a member already, you can use this link for school updates and to connect with other families at St. Pius X School: https://www.facebook.com/groups/stpiusxschoolhsa/ Our parent-teacher conferences will be on February 23rd and 25th. These will be via Zoom or Google Meet, similar to fall parent-teacher conferences.

Boys Hockey - Griffin Becher Athlete of the Week honors go to Boys Hockey player Jack Kleinschmidt Jack’s effort and consistency has been a key catalyst to our teams early success. This was on full display Friday evening when we were down by five goals at one point, and Jack’s intensity and relentless pursuit of the puck contributed to a come back which resulted in a 5-5 tie. Jack contributed four goals, but it’s been his commitment to never taking a shift off and rallying his teammates in all situations which makes him a great teammate.
