A Message From the Principal
The month of December brings the virtue of Purity. Our Student Council introduced us to St. Martin de Porres, Venerable Solanus Casey and Venerable Pierre Touissant. These holy men all lived lives that exemplified the virtue of Purity - Keeping your soul free from sin. As we enter this Advent season, we can certainly be tempted to spend more time on the materialistic side of preparation and less on the spiritual time. Perhaps this pandemic and the four week 'dial-back' is inviting us to stay focused on our faith and prayer preparations - and to look at this time of patient waiting in a new way. May we see this time as a gift - one of slowing down our fast-paced lives and truly preparing for the coming of Christ. The beautiful weather has continued to be a gift - especially to those of us on recess duty!! We continue to count our blessings and be grateful.
Respectfully,
School News The used uniforms will be available for families to look through next week December 7 - 11 between 9:15 am and 3:15 pm in the school entryway. Don’t delay! If you would like to participate in the annual collection for Staff Christmas gifts, please click here for more information. Moms in Prayer moved to Tuesdays at 10am. We are a group of Moms praying for the students, staff and families at St. Francis of Assisi School. Each week we pray a rosary. Our prayers are focused towards one of our classrooms and the prayer requests of those students. It usually takes us about 20 minutes. You may join us any week you are available. Zoom invites go out Mondays before we meet. If you would like to join us in prayer or for more information contact Charlotte Bruining at shaarchar@hotmail.com or text 507-316-1655. During Advent, we typically take a collection each week for the Missionary Holy Childhood Association. This Association, founded in 1843 by Charles Auguste Marie Joseph, is a Catholic children's association for the benefit of foreign missions. It is one of four Pontifical Mission Societies and is dedicated to fostering children’s awareness of the missionary nature of the Church. Because we are not gathering as a full school community at Mass each week, our Student Council members will be visiting classrooms next week to talk about this Association and share our Day of Giving (December 15th) to support this charity. Students are encouraged to bring a financial contribution on that day. All monies collected will be sent to the Diocese of Winona-Rochester to be combined with the diocesan offerings for this charity. Thank you for your support. The registration forms for the Virtual Science Fair are due to the office by Monday, December 7th. We look forward to sharing all the amazing talent of our students! You can access the form here. Please continue to bring in your class specific food donations. Food collection continues through Friday, December 11th.
