Weekly School Broadcast St. Francis students and staff celebrating the Feast of St. Francis.
2020-10-09 A Message from the Principal Our school community culminated thirty days of prayer to Mary with a recitation of the Glorious Mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary on the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7th. We are so appreciative to the RCS parents who continue to lift our community in prayer during this pandemic.
The school-wide celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi took place on Monday, October 5th. We gathered for the first time as an entire school community on our front parking lot to pray, reflect, share in a beautiful liturgical dance and release peace doves signifying our prayers rising to heaven. We continue to ask for God to keep us safe and to restore peace to our broken world. We pray for the intercession of our patron as we strive to be peacemakers in our homes, school and community.
October is Bullying Prevention Month. Our Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is integrated with our Monthly Virtue. We can all work towards Kindness and seeing the Divine in others. As we share with the children - if we all lived virtuous lives, there would be no bullying!
This weekend is our HSA sponsored Virtual 5 K Family Fun Run. Please be sure and register for the event (No fee, but free will offering encouraged). Your registration becomes your ticket in the door prize drawing. Please send pictures of your family participating in the event to stfhsa@rcsmn.org. We look forward to celebrating how our community stays involved - even in this time of social distancing!
Respectfully,
School News Parent Teacher conferences were held this week. We’d like to thank everyone for your participation. A special thank you to the parents who provided meals for the teachers who conferenced at school. They had to get a little creative in providing individual meals rather than a shared meal as in the past. We really appreciate all of you! As we shared in August, we ask families who choose Stay at Home Learning to commit to that choice for a quarter. Teachers and families partner to schedule instruction that works for them. In some cases that means a student being virtually present for much of the school day, in others, they watch a pre-recorded lesson later in the day or the next day. If your circumstances are such that you need to continue Stay at Home Learning, or if you would like to switch to Stay at Home Learning for second quarter. Please fill out this form and return it to the school office before October 23rd. October 12-16 is designated as National School Lunch Week. We’d like to issue a special word of thanks to Mrs. Mary Friedrich, Mrs. Cyndi Johnson, Mrs. Andrea Mullen and Mrs. Kris Henning for their hard work and dedication in providing a nutritious lunch every day for all of us. We are so grateful! If you have not turned in your addresses yet, please send them to school as soon as possible. Although we are not able to celebrate in person with our grandparents and special friends, we do have something special planned for them. Addresses need to be returned to school no later than October 14th, please. There will be no school on Thursday and Friday, October 15th and 16th in observance of Fall Break. We will not publish a Weekly Broadcast next week. Enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 22nd. It is Picture Retake Day! Students who need pictures retaken must return their original packet. It is a non-uniform day for those having pictures taken.

We would like to provide an update on the status of RCS Traveling Youth basketball. As of this current time, with the lack of gym availability and restrictions related to COVID-19, we are going to hold off on starting traveling basketball. We will continue monitor the situation and will let people know if and when we are able to move forward. We will continue to have open communication with all involved to make an informed decision regarding the traveling season. We do not have a time-frame as to when this decision will be made. This is a fluid situation. If we decide to move forward with a season, we can have registration up and going quite quickly. Our number one priority is the safety of all involved, along with keeping our schools open. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate through these new and challenging times.
