WEEKLY BROADCAST We are very excited to start school on Monday. Many hours of work and preparation have taken place to get us ready for the first day of school. As we will be instituting many new procedures this year, we ask for patience as we do our very best to meet the spiritual, social, emotional, and academic needs, along with the health and safety needs, of all of the children at the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Middle School.
School News Family car line pickup numbers. Every student, except distance learners, will come home from school today with 2 laminated sheets. All that is on them is a number (two copies in case you have two cars), so that when you come to pick up your student, the staff members in the parking lot will be able to call your car number, and the student will come down in the order called. We are hoping this will make pickup time more efficient. Please remember to ask your student for the laminated number sheet, and put it in your car! Thank you very much. Before School Care Please check the RCS Website for information regarding our Before School Care program at St. John. Sign up is currently unavailable online but please let the office know if you would like to register at dcameron@rcsmn.org. Your child will sign in as they enter the gym. You may use the program daily or as needed. You will only be charged for the days used. When you drop you child off - please use the Gym Door #18 off the playground and have them knock. All other doors will be locked until 8:30. HSA Thank You St. John Middle School Families - A HUGE thank you from the HSA (Home & School Association) for your quick and generous response to our Amazon Wish List plea! In less than five days, you showed great support by purchasing everything our teachers requested. The HSA would like to continue this method of giving by asking the teachers to periodically add and update items they'd like for their classrooms as well as asking Mrs. Streefland to add books and materials she'd like for our school library. Again, our deepest gratitude for supporting our teachers and staff. This is just another example of how the RCS community can't be beat! ~The HSA Board~ Water Bottles Each student needs to bring a clear water bottle daily. They will be able to refill them at the drinking fountains, but will not be able to drink directly from the fountain. 2020-2021 St. John the Evangelist School Calendar of Events Please click here for the 2020-2021 St. John School Calendar of Events. Dates in Red have not been finalized yet. Please note - these dates and events may be subject to change. PE Uniforms for 2020-2021 All students at St. John Middle School are required to change for Physical Education classes. RCS has a standard PE uniform available through the Spirit Shop at Lourdes.
System News Students in grades 5-8 can participate in band at their school (or at home if you have chosen to distance learn). ALL students are invited to join band. If you haven't played before and are interested in starting, now is the time to give it a try! Click here for registration and fee information. Please contact Ms. Hanson at whanson@rcsmn.org with any questions. Be sure to remind your family, friends, and neighbors how great our devoted RCS community is! We hope you share your experience with others who are seeking the whole child excellence that an RCS education can provide. And don't forget, with the RCS Enrollment Referral Award you can qualify for a $250 payment if your name is listed as the referring party to a new student. Find out more at Ways to Lower Tuition: rcsmn.org/waystolowertuition. At the recommendation of our healthcare partners, influenza vaccinations (flu shots) for students in Olmsted, Dodge, Goodhue, and Mower County schools this fall have been cancelled. Your child will not receive a flu shot at school this year. Please watch for details on flu shot availability in your community. It is recommended that families receive their flu shots by the end of November 2020. The Spirit Shop is now open Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and Friday mornings from 8:30-10:00 a.m. during August. The Spirit Shop will also be open August 25 and 26 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. PE uniforms and RCS sweatshirts are available. For more information, visit rcsmn.org/spiritshop System Activities As we prepare to cheer on our Eagle athletes we want to remind everyone that due to the limited number of spectators permitted at MSHSL events, the following rules have been established:
