WEEKLY BROADCAST August 28, 2020
Monday is the Day!
SCHOOL NEWS This year will be very different in Extended Care AM and PM. In an effort to keep students in grade specific cohorts, both programs will be held in the gym. Spaces will be assigned to specific grades. Students will not be allowed to move around the gym during Extended Care. Please do not send toys or games from home. Students will need their admit slips in the morning and will remain in the gym until 8:40 am. Morning snack will be served at 7:30 am. Extended Care PM will have a daily snack, quiet homework time, outside time (weather permitting), and free play/activity time. We are limiting numbers in these programs, so students signed up as ‘drop ins’ must notify the office two days prior to using the program. If you have any questions, please contact the office. Mark your calendar for September 9. This is a nonuniform day for students. Picture information will be coming home next week. As we shared last year, Lifetouch has been sold to Shutterfly. That transition came with some growing pains last spring (and then...COVID-19!). The school photo division has shared they will no longer be printing class composite pictures which were provided to each child in the past. They encourage all families to purchase memory books in the spring which contain copies of each student’s picture. We had an error in our last broadcast that included a Wednesday date. There is no bussing on Wednesdays this year. Please refer to the information you received from Transportation. Group A busses on Mondays and Tuesdays. Group B busses on Thursdays and Fridays. Please extend a warm welcome to Ms. Maggie Ericson, Second Grade, Mrs. Julie Taylor, Math Resource Teacher and our new Librarian, Mrs. Renae Majewski. They join other new staff, Mrs. Andrea Mullen, Food Service Assistant, Ms. Katie Hyder, Office Assistant, and Mrs. Jessica Falk, School Secretary.
SYSTEM NEWS Students in grades 5-8 can participate in BAND at their school (or at home if you have chosen to Distance Learn). ALL students are invited to join band. If you haven't played before and are interested in starting, now is the time to give it a try! Click here for registration and fee information. Please contact Ms. Hanson at whanson@rcsmn.org with any questions. Be sure to remind your family, friends, and neighbors how great our devoted RCS community is! We hope you share your experience with others who are seeking the whole child excellence that an RCS education can provide. And don't forget, with the RCS Enrollment Referral Award you can qualify for a $250 payment if your name is listed as the referring party to a new student. Find out more at Ways to Lower Tuition: rcsmn.org/waystolowertuition. At the recommendation of our healthcare partners, influenza vaccinations (flu shots) for students in Olmsted, Dodge, Goodhue, and Mower County schools this fall have been cancelled. Your child will not receive a flu shot at school this year. Please watch for details on flu shot availability in your community. It is recommended that families receive their flu shots by the end of November 2020. The Spirit Shop is now open Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and Friday mornings from 8:30-10:00 a.m. during August. The Spirit Shop will also be open August 25 and 26 from 9:00-11:30 a.m. PE uniforms and RCS sweatshirts are available. For more information, visit rcsmn.org/spiritshop ACTIVITIES NEWS As we prepare to cheer on our Eagle athletes we want to remind everyone that due to the limited number of spectators permitted at MSHSL events, the following rules have been established:
