WEEKLY BROADCAST FEATURED NEWS "It's still March Reading Month. Take this time to read some good books!
SCHOOL NEWS The virtue for the month of March is Temperance: "Enjoying things in a proper, balanced way”. We are all being challenged to practice this virtue in light of the pandemic. How can you find joy today? I am definitely hearing joy when I read comments and feedback from students through Google classrooms. There is joy being shared by teachers when they receive a picture or a note from one of the students or families. I hear joy as read alouds are shared and students are responding positively to their love of the story. Families are expressing joy at the structure being provided for these long days of social distancing. While we are realizing just how much in life is out of our control, we can find joy and balance in knowing God is in control. Have you taken advantage of any of the prayer opportunities being offered online? There are daily devotionals, live rosaries, streamed Masses, google docs of intentions just to name a few. Finding time to grow closer to God during this time is important for all of us. During this Lenten season we have been forced to ‘fast’ from many of life’s activities and distractions. Let’s practice temperance by finding that proper balance! With this week’s announcement from Bishop Quinn, you may be looking for ways to continue to participate in weekly liturgy. St. Mary’s Press has made this Kids Liturgy resource available free of charge. (it is likely most usable for early elementary grades, but could offer some suggestions for all kids) I have heard many words of gratitude for all the teachers have done/are doing to continue the teaching and learning. We appreciate your feedback and ask for your suggestions as we complete the first week. What have been the barriers? Are there concerns we need to be addressing? We may not be able to ‘fix’ all things, but would welcome the feedback to try to address issues. Please note: our hourly employees (paras, office, cafeteria) worked tirelessly on Monday and Tuesday to support teachers as they prepared packets, lessons and their classrooms. Truly - our community at its best! In an effort to provide continued support to the entire RCS family during this time of closure, the RCS Department of Technology is strongly encouraging the use of our support website at http://support.rcsmn.org/. We ask that all support requests be submitted in our ticket system so that all technology staff will be able to see and address these concerns in a timely manner. During this shutdown, we have been busy cleaning and sanitizing our school. We do not know what the future holds, but did not want to miss this opportunity to make sure the building got a thorough cleaning. Special thanks to our custodial/maintenance staff and the hourly employees who came in to help! Our annual School Carnival is May 1st! The raffle is a huge part of this event, and we need prize donations. Click here for a link to the letter.
