A Message from the Principal
Meetings were held this morning at 8:00 am for all RCS employees. We shared that this kind of situation is uncharted waters and we are all learning together. The safety of our students, staff and families is very important to all of us. We are committed to providing quality educational activities as long as is necessary to keep our students engaged in the learning process. We know this may present some challenges and we ask families to please stay in contact with us via email and/or leave a phone message as questions arise. Please note:
- Parents of students in grades 4-8, please bring an extra bag or backpack. If these hours do not work for your family, please email the office, building principal or your child's teacher and we will make arrangements with you.
- We will send Google Chromebooks home with 4th and 5th graders. Their teachers will be sharing information about the learning plans.
- All of our devices have had password expirations lifted to assist with ease of access for however long we need to be using distance learning.
- The Book Exchange scheduled for this month will be available tomorrow for students to each take a book.
- All activities and events scheduled for March 16th - April 5th have been canceled or postponed. We will share dates of rescheduled events as soon as we have them.
- Memory Book order forms MUST be completed and turned in tomorrow when you stop by the school.
- Please check the lost and found for your child's belongings before leaving tomorrow. Leftover items will be donated after 4:00 pm tomorrow.
- Classroom teachers will communicate the plans for learning. There will be items provided for all academic areas. While this should not take an 8 hour day for your child, the time each lesson takes will vary. Students are expected to complete all work being shared as per the direction of the teacher.
- Counselors are assembling a list of resources to assist you with what is 'typical' of children's reactions during times like this and how to talk about this topic at home.
parents/guardians may need to pick up their child's medication from the school health office to continue providing for their child's health needs at home. Parents are not required to pick up their child's medications at this time. If you do not need them at home, please know that they will remain in the health office as usual until school resumes. If you do need to pick up medication for your child, RPS School Board Policy 516 states that all prescription medications must be picked up by a parent/guardian. We are asking that if you do need your students medications, to please pick them up at your child's school on Tuesday, March 17 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Warm regards, Stacey Goetz, BSN RN, PHN Licensed School Nurse
Great News….we have exceeded our Richard M. Schulze $25,000 Matching Grant opportunity! Thank you so much to all of you who donated, prayed and talked about this endeavor. Working together, we made it happen!
As we continue to work in partnership with you, please know we will do our best to keep in communication! As I shared with the staff this morning, Scripture tells us to not be afraid, to trust and walk with faith….these trying times can challenge all of that! Know that our God is great, and we have the power to show His love in a different way as we navigate this school closure.
Respectfully,
St. Francis of Assisi School |
