SCHOOL NEWS As you may know, one of the goals of our school strategic plan is to meet the diverse academic needs of all of our students. The entire staff has been working extremely hard on this goal and would like your insight into what you feel we are doing well and what we could improve on. Please answer two questions on this survey to provide your feedback on our progress. Thank you for partnering with us to help your student grow in faith and learning. Red Lake Food Drive March 16th-26th The Red Lake Indian Reservation has a 50% unemployment rate. 20% of residents do not have a car and 74.1% live below the poverty level. Please join us in donating food and dry goods this Lent from March 16th-26th! Some needed items are food, shampoo, conditioner, diapers, canned or dry milk, baby formula, and much more! We have reached the $18,000 mark and now need just under $7,000 by May 10th to reach our goal of $25,000 to unlock an additional $25,000 from the Schulze Family Foundation. Funds are earmarked to support professional development and additional supports and services in PREK-5th to enrich our efforts to meet diverse academic needs in math and reading, integrate religion more closely with other subjects, and to STREAM-ify more of what we teach at Holy Spirit. Please watch the Broadcast for a rescheduled date. Dads (or other important male figure) are invited to attend mass with their student, receive a blessing, then enjoy doughnuts in the Commons. This event is in honor of the feast day of St. Joseph.(Students will be sent back to class after Mass.) No need to RSVP- we will estimate who is here at the beginning of mass. Holy Spirit's Annual Rummage Sale will be held on Saturday, April 18, beginning at 7 a.m. Bag sale takes place from 11:00 to 1:00. If you wish to donate any items to the sale please do so between 1:00 and 5:00 on Friday, April 17. Donated items should be brought to the school at 5455 - 50th Ave. NW.. Please drive around to the back of the school for drop off. Proceeds from this event benefit the students at Holy Spirit School. SYSTEM NEWS The Catholic Foundation of Southern MN is pleased to again offer financial support from the Seeds of Faith Catholic School Tuition Assistance Endowment for the 2020-2021 school year. The Seeds of Faith scholarships are need-based, and these funds are available to families who wish to have their students attend Catholic schools but have limited income and work opportunities. This is not an academic scholarship fund. The application deadline is May 15, 2020.
SYSTEM ACTIVITIES LHS Clay Target League is gearing up for it's spring season. Any RCS student in grades 7-12 interested in participating should email DeLane Morris (Dmorr@charter.net) by March 18. Golf practice begins Monday, March 16. Please see first week practice schedule below. If you haven't registered yet please do so here. Practice the week of March 16 will be at St. John's School Gym on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Coaches will communicate future practice schedule next week. Girls will practice from 4:00-5:00 pm Come out and enjoy some pancakes, sausage, and coffee/milk/juice at the Eagle Booster Club Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 21 from 8-11 a.m. at Charlies Eatery (Hillcrest Shopping Center, 1654 Hwy 52 N).
