WEEKLY BROADCAST FEATURED NEWS Congratulations to the Lourdes Chess Team who placed 1st place for the 4th year in a row in the City Cup. The team beat out much larger schools, including John Marshall, Mayo and Century to defend their record. We wish the team luck as they go to state this Saturday in Minneapolis!!!
ACADEMIC NEWS Please join us on March 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the LHS auditorium to recognize the achievements of the National Honor Society. We will induct the junior members and seniors will receive their cords. Those participating in the induction should be in the foyer and ready to line up at 6:45 p.m. Seniors met with Mrs. Groven to discuss the timeline for the remainder of the school year. Mrs. Groven also explained the importance of staying focused on school work to keep grades up. Students were provided information about scholarship opportunities and reminded to start with the Lourdes Scholarship page. As students receive scholarships they should provide a copy of the notification to the Counseling Office. Electronic copies can be sent to tschumperlin@rcsmn.org. Those received by May 11th will be included in Awards Day and in the graduation program.
CAMPUS MINISTRY NEWS The senior boys will be embarking on their Kairos retreat which will be held at the Dunrovin Retreat Center from 3/22/2020-3/25/2020. Permission forms are due on March 5th. Senior parents please mark your calendars: The Diocesan Baccalaureate Mass is April 29, 2020 at 11:00am at Pax Christi Church Lourdes Baccalaureate Mass will be May 20, 2020 at 7:30pm at Lourdes High School This year we have partnered with Youth Frontiers to provide a leadership conference for the junior class retreat (this retreat is mandatory). The class will be divided into 2 groups to attend the conference. Our first group attended the conference on January 28th, and our next group will be attending on March 5th. More information and a permission slip will be coming home with your student. We will hold Eucharistic Adoration on Friday mornings from 7:15am-9:45am. All are welcome! Chapel Masses will be every Tuesday morning at 7:15 am in the Lourdes Chapel with Father Hoang as our presider. All are welcome.
ATHLETIC NEWS Congratulations to the Girls Basketball team as they are Section Champions and have earned a trip to the State Tournament! The State Tournament begins Wednesday, March 11. Pre-sale tickets will be on sale in the Activities Office beginning Monday, March 9. Adults $16; Students (K-12) $10. Game time will be posted, when known, on our Facebook and Twitter page. FINE ARTS NEWS Currently, Drawing and Painting I student's artwork is on display. The student collection is charcoal drawings inspired by everyday useful tools. The inspiration is from artist, Jim Dine, who is an American Pop Art artist. He is known for his expressive still life of everyday ordinary objects. The art will be displayed until mid March. If you are doing any pre-spring cleaning the art department would love to have unwanted supplies. GENERAL NEWS Our Health Services Team is working very closely with Olmsted County Public Health and Olmsted County Epidemiologist regarding both influenza and the Corona Virus and we appreciate all of their work.
