SCHOOL NEWS We have limited handicapped parking slots available in our parking lot. You MUST have a handicapped license plate or handicapped tags visible in order to park in those spots. Please be mindful of these spots when dropping off or picking up students as well. They should be clear of obstruction. Congratulations to the 6th grade Math Masters team on representing St. Francis of Assisi School so well at last week’s competition! A special congratulations goes out to several individual students for placing at today’s competition. Teddy Torborg and Brayden Kottschade tied for sixth place in the fact drill/order of operations speed round. Teddy Torborg also placed second in the individual round and Nickolas Singer placed twelfth in the individual round. And last but not least, the team of “y=mx + banana”: Stella Beatty, Brayden Kottschade, Nickolas Singer, Teddy Torborg and Lillie VanBuskirk placed third as a team out of 26 other teams at the competition! Impressive! Congratulations to all the Mathletes on their hard work this season! Thanks also to Mrs. Singer for her teaching and support of these students! On Saturday February 29th, eight students from the St. Francis of Assisi School Chess Club participated in the 2020 Rochester Area Scholastic Chess League Junior Varsity tournament with outstanding results. St. Francis of Assisi School finished first in the team category and had the following individual places: Our annual School Carnival is May 1st! The raffle is a huge part of this event, and we need prize donations. Click here for a link to the letter. Our 8th graders have been working diligently on presentations in their history class. Please join us on Tuesday, March 10th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in the gym for our second annual History Night. Students and projects will be spread out around the gym and you may visit the displays and ask questions of the students. Are you doing some spring cleaning? Do you have some bookshelves to declutter? We can take them off your hands! The school library will be hosting a book exchange for our "I Love to Read" month festivities. The students will be able to pick out a book to take home and keep. If you have any books that would appeal to ages 5-15, please drop them off at school and place them on the tables by the computer lab starting March 2nd. Books will be taken until March 20th. SYSTEM NEWS Mark your calendars for Hats and Horses - A Derby Gala on Saturday, April 25, at the Hilton Downtown. Ladies, put on your best hat. Gentlemen, straighten your bow ties. It's a sure bet you will have a great time at this Kentucky Derby inspired affair! New this year, this annual Hearts of Gold premier fundraising event has expanded to benefit the entire Rochester Catholic Schools system. The RCS community is encouraged to join us for an evening of fun and fellowship while supporting our Catholic schools! The Seeds of Faith scholarships are need-based, and these funds are available to families who wish to have their students attend Catholic schools but have limited income and work opportunities. This is not an academic scholarship fund. The application deadline is May 15, 2020.
