ACADEMIC NEWS Finals week went very well with no weather interruptions. Grading is complete and semester 1 grades are posted in Infinite Campus. If you have questions about your student's final grade, please feel free to email your student's teacher.
CAMPUS MINISTRY NEWS February 3 - February 11 Join the Lourdes High School community in praying a novena to Our Lady of Lourdes! This nine-day prayer begins on February 3 and finishes on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, February 11. Daily prayers for the novena may be found here. Entrust Lourdes High School students, faculty, and staff to the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes as well as your own petitions. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us! Senior parents please mark your calendars: The Diocesan Baccalaureate Mass is April 29,2020 at 11:00am at Pax Christi Church Lourdes Baccalaureate Mass will be May 20, 2020 at 7:30pm at Lourdes High School This year we have partnered with Youth Frontiers to provide a leadership conference for the junior class retreat (this retreat is mandatory). The class will be divided into 2 groups to attend the conference. Our first group attended the conference on January 28th, and our next group will be attending on March 5th. More information and a permission slip will be coming home with your student. The senior boys will be embarking on their Kairos retreat which will be held at the Dunrovin Retreat Center from 3/22/2020-3/25/2020. We will hold Eucharistic Adoration on Friday mornings from 7:15am-9:45am. All are welcome! Chapel Masses will be every Tuesday morning at 7:15 am in the Lourdes Chapel with Father Hoang as our presider. All are welcome.
ATHLETIC NEWS Here is a list of upcoming Athletic events. Saturday, February 1 Monday, February 3 Tuesday, February 4 Thursday, February 6 Friday, February 7 Saturday, February 8 Join us as we celebrate our Young Eagles at Girls Youth Basketball Night Tuesday, February 11th at Lourdes High School. Girls in grades 4-8 who participated in school ball and/or traveling basketball this year, along with their coaches, will be recognized during halftime of the Varsity game. Following the Varsity game, all students will have an opportunity to get an autograph and/or picture with the Eagles varsity players! Come watch the Eagles as they take on Kasson-Mantorville, congratulate the youth girls, and stay for autograph/picture session following the game. 7Gr (4:30 pm) at St. Francis All students have free admission! The 2020 Rochester Area Sports Banquet was held this past week. Lourdes was well represented with outstanding athletes. The Softball Team was awarded Team of the Year, and Alyssa Ustby was named Female Athlete of the Year. Spring Sports Registration will open February 10th. A valid sports physical must be on file in the Activities Office prior to being able to register. Baseball - Grades 9-12 Please register here. Boys and Girls Lacrosse (Grades 7-12) registration will be open from February 17-28. This is a Co-op with John Marshall which will end after the 2021 season and not be renewed. We will not have an option to offer Lacrosse after the 2021 season. Please make sure your sports physical is on file and up-to-date in the athletic/activities office and does NOT expire prior to June 6. There will be a Softball Pre-Season Parent, Athlete, Coach meeting for all RCS students in grades 6-12 interested in playing softball this spring. The meeting will be held on February 4 at 6:00 pm in the LHS Forum. The newly launched Eagle Booster Club was established to support the general growth and development of athletics for students (grades 7-12) within Rochester Catholic Schools (RCS). Membership is comprised of RCS parents, alumni, community members, and businesses working together with goals to heighten, enhance, and enrich the athletics programs. Members promote and provide a high quality experience for students, coaches, directors, and fans through sponsorship opportunities, fundraising, and volunteer efforts. FINE ARTS NEWS The 20th annual Night of Jazz Music Fundraiser will be held at 7pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020 in the Lourdes High School Commons. Enjoy a night of musical performances and an art auction featuring our talented students. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 60+, and $10 for non-performing students (including college students) available at the door - payable by cash or check. Table reservations may be done in advance by emailing LHSNightofJAzz@gmail.com. A 5 person table is available for $120 and an 8 person table is $180. Admission price includes refreshments. All proceeds benefit the Lourdes High School Music Department. If you are doing any pre-spring cleaning the art department would love to have unwanted supplies. Your senior photos are due on March 22, photos can be sent to lhsyearbook@rcsmn.org Please make sure that your resolution is as high as possible, we recommend that your resolution be at least 300 dpi (ppi) or greater, and image size be 2.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches tall. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Sinn at risinn@rcsmn.org. There is a large collection of uniforms in the front office. If your student is missing a uniform item please have them come and take a look. Please check the Spirit Shop website for the most up to date hours.
