ACADEMIC NEWS Lourdes High School has been selected to participate in ACT’s online study. This is a wonderful opportunity that will allow all juniors at Lourdes to take the ACT for free on Saturday, February 8th. This study requires that Lourdes will administer both the online and paper version of the ACT test. ACT will randomly assign students to test via their school-issued Chromebook or take the paper test.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendar for first semester final exam dates which are: 1/21/2020-1/23/2020.
CAMPUS MINISTRY NEWS The senior boys will be embarking on their Kairos retreat which will be held at the Dunrovin Retreat Center from 3/22/2020-3/25/2020. We will hold Eucharistic Adoration on Friday mornings from 7:15am-9:45am. All are welcome! Chapel Masses will be every Tuesday morning at 7:15 am in the Lourdes Chapel with Father Hoang as our presider. All are welcome.
ATHLETIC NEWS We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you to all the students, parents, volunteers, coaches and fans for all you do for RCS Activities. Merry Christmas! Congratulations to Coach Sean Kane on being named Co-Head Coach alongside his father Coach Tom Kane for Lourdes Boys Soccer team beginning with the 2020-2021 season. Coach Tom Kane will be retiring at the end of the 2020-2021 season at which time Coach Sean Kane will take over the program. The 2019 Softball State Championship Team will be honored with the unveiling of the State Championship Banner on Saturday, January 4th between the boys and girls varsity basketball games vs Winona Cotter at the Lourdes High School gymnasium. January 4 schedule The boys hockey JV and Varsity teams will be playing in the Rochester Kiwanis 27th Annual Hockey Festival December 26-28 at Graham Arena. Boys Varsity Schedule Boys JV Schedule Both Boys and Girls Basketball teams will be participating in the 2019 Rochester Rotary Holiday Classic Tournament December 27-28 at the Mayo Civic Center. The girls will play at 4:00 pm vs Owatonna. The boys will play at 6:15 pm vs Bloomington Kennedy. Both of these games will be played in Taylor Arena at the Mayo Civic Center. GO EAGLES! December 21 December 26 December 27 December 28 The newly launched Eagle Booster Club was established to support the general growth and development of athletics for students (grades 7-12) within Rochester Catholic Schools (RCS). Membership is comprised of RCS parents, alumni, community members, and businesses working together with goals to heighten, enhance, and enrich the athletics programs. Members promote and provide a high quality experience for students, coaches, directors, and fans through sponsorship opportunities, fundraising, and volunteer efforts. Your senior photos are due on March 22, photos can be sent to lhsyearbook@rcsmn.org Please make sure that your resolution is as high as possible, we recommend that your resolution be at least 300 dpi (ppi) or greater, and image size be 2.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches tall. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Sinn at risinn@rcsmn.org. There is a large collection of uniforms in the front office. If your student is missing a uniform item please have them come and take a look. Please check the Spirit Shop website for the most up to date hours.
SYSTEM NEWS This month's Parent Engagement flyer is meant to deepen the family commitment to the real meaning of Advent. As busy as family life can be, oftentimes just reminding the whole family of the real meaning of Advent can be enough to keep the themes of hope, peace, joy and love alive within the home. Re-enrollment for your students in grades 1-12 will take place beginning Catholic Schools Week - watch for a mailing at that time. Because there are limited spaces available in our preschool programs, you will receive priority placement through December 31, 2019. On January 1, 2020, preschool enrollment will open to the general public and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Spaces are limited so enroll early! There is a wide variety of preschool program offerings offered for the 2020-2021 school year. To view a full list of preschool offerings, please click here. The Preschool Registration Fee if $50 for all preschool applications, with a family maximum of $100 in preschool registration fees, due when you enroll.
