It takes a lot of courage for students to stand in front of their peers and offer to serve them and their school. Thank you to all of the students who chose to run for positions. SCHOOL NEWS MEA Break MEA Break is Thursday, October 17th and Friday, October 18th. There will be no school for students on these days. Box Tops Collection update The Box Tops for Education program is changing! While you can still clip box tops from some products (including Ziploc and Kleenex) and bring them to the school collection bin, many products have introduced electronic box tops. For these, you download an app, scan your receipt within 14 days of purchase, and the school is credited with boxtop-eligible items. Contact Marguerite Robinson (strobelme@msn.com) Parent Teacher Conferences Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, October 21st and Thursday, October 24th from 4:00 - 8:00 each night. Please choose the night that works best for you. Conferences will be held on a walk in basis in the gym with teachers at individual tables. We ask that you keep each teacher conference to no more than 5 mintues. Fall Young Authors, Young Artists Conference Does your 6th-8th grade student love to express themselves in writing or art? If so, they should consider attending the Young Authors, Young Artists Conference on Wednesday, October 30. Mr. Amundson will be leading a group of interested students in attending the conference this year. We will be meeting at St. John's at about 8:15, riding a bus to the Wood Lake Meeting Center in Rochester for the conference, and will return to St. John's at approximately 2:15 p.m. for the remainder of the school day. The conference's cost is $45, which includes four sessions with materials and projects to bring home from each session. Please click here for the conference registration form. The Eagle Elves have been busy preparing Santa's Spirit Shop with products for the holiday season. Pre-orders for products are due October 25th. Please view apparel and novelty options on the Spirit Shop website and use the attached form for pre-orders. Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine provides a Saturday morning injury clinic for Rochester area middle school, high school and college athletes injured during recent sports activities. The clinic will be open each Saturday September 7 to October 12 from 8 am to noon on the third floor of Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. Appointments are preferred, and can be scheduled by calling Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine at 507-266-6690, starting at 7:30 am each Saturday. For more information click here. Traveling Basketball Evaluations will be held for both boys and girls to help with team formation. These evaluations are conducted by varsity boys and girls head coaches, Coach Larson and Coach Berg.
