WEEKLY BROADCAST FEATURED NEWS This past week we celebrated National Manufacturing Week. Students who have expressed interest in a career related to a technical or engineering field were invited to visit PACE International and Limb Lab. This was the first year that we have taken part in this event. We look forward to expanding in the years to come! Thank you to PACE International and Limb Lab for having us!
ACADEMIC NEWS Please mark your calendars, 10/16/19 is a test day for 9-11 graders (Seniors will be attending a mandatory retreat at Camp Victory). Freshmen will take the ACRE test, followed by an additional activity (Assessment of Child/Youth Religious Education) Sophomores will take the PreACT Juniors will take the PSAT Click here for the registration form. Students must arrive by 7:45, and will be dismissed at 11:30-12:00pm. There will be no food services on this test day, busing will be available at the regular time 2:50pm.
CAMPUS MINISTRY NEWS The Holy Spirit Green Team is planning a Fall Outdoor Clean-Up Day at Holy Spirit on Saturday, October 5th, from 9:00am-11:00am. We would appreciate your help-no experience necessary! Please feel free to join us for one hour or two hours-whatever works into your schedule. Bring your pruning shears, knee pads, shovel, etc. Dress for the weather. If you don’t have gardening tools, we will have extra. In case of inclement weather, check your email just before leaving home. If you have questions, call Pat at 507-398-5640 Food for Kidz is a non profit organization committed to feeding starving children around the world. They provide specially formulated hand-packed, easy to prepare meals. All that is needed is boiling water. Bethel Lutheran Church is hosting a "fill" for Food for Kidz on Nov. 2 from 9-3. We will have 3 time slots 9-11, 11-1, and 1-3. There will be tables of 10 set up and the volunteers will fill each bag with the provided ingredients. 1 bag of food = 6 meals. 36 bags of food = 1 box = 216 meals. 1 box will feed 1 child for 7 months. We hope this year to pack up 140,000 meals. Half of the meals will stay local and go to Chanel One, Community Food Response and the backpack program. If you are interested you can sign up online at: www.bethellutheran.com The senior girls will embark on their Kairos trip on the afternoon of 11/4. They will spend 2 nights at the Donrovin Christian Brothers Retreat Center, returning on 11/7. We ask for prayers for the girls to have a safe and meaningful time! Parents of seniors look for information coming home this week. We will hold Eucharistic Adoration on Friday mornings from 7:15am-9:45am. All are welcome! Chapel Masses will be every Tuesday morning at 7:15 am in the Lourdes Chapel with Father Hoang as our presider. All are welcome.
ATHLETIC NEWS Winter Sports registration is now open for Winter Sports (Hockey and Basketball) for grades 7-12. Please visit rcsmn.org/athletics for registration information. The Eagle Elves have been busy preparing Santa's Spirit Shop with products for the holiday season. Pre-orders for products are due October 25th. Please view apparel and novelty options on the Spirit Shop website and use the attached form for pre-orders. Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine provides a Saturday morning injury clinic for Rochester area middle school, high school and college athletes injured during recent sports activities. The clinic will be open each Saturday September 7 to October 12 from 8 am to noon on the third floor of Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. Appointments are preferred, and can be scheduled by calling Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine at 507-266-6690, starting at 7:30 am each Saturday. For more information click here. Lourdes Volleyball is teaming up with Victoria's Restaurant to have a day of fabulous food and fellowship to support the LHS Volleyball Program. Come dine at Victoria's any time on Sunday, October 6th and mention "LHS Volleyball", and a portion of the sales will be donated to LHS volleyball. (Includes carryout.) The newly launched Eagle Booster Club was established to support the general growth and development of athletics for students (grades 7-12) within Rochester Catholic Schools (RCS). Membership is comprised of RCS parents, alumni, community members, and businesses working together with goals to heighten, enhance, and enrich the athletics programs. Members promote and provide a high quality experience for students, coaches, directors, and fans through sponsorship opportunities, fundraising, and volunteer efforts. FINE ARTS NEWS Lourdes High School Concert Choir and Center Street Singers will perform their fall concert on Tuesday, October 29 in the LHS Auditorium. Concert begins at 7:00 pm.
