Holy Spirit Catholic School
Student attendance is essential and it is the parent's responsibility to ensure that his or her child is present. If a student will be absent for any reason, the Holy Spirit Catholic School Office must be notified via a phone call (507) 288-8818, email
(hsattendance@rcsmn.org) to the school office and teacher, or a written note. The school will contact parents if notice has not been received. This policy ensures both parent and school staff that children are in safe care.
Tardiness
The first bell rings at 8:15 a.m. and students are expected to be in their homerooms at 8:25 a.m. If students arrive after 8:25 a.m. they must report to the office before going to the classroom. Students delayed because of late buses or appointments will not be considered tardy. If a student's absence lasts half a day or more, the student shall be considered absent.
Illness
Absence due to illness prohibits a student from participating in any extra-curricular practice or event for that day. If a student is absent from 50% of classes for reasons other than illness on any given day (excluding dental appointments, etc.) students are not allowed to participate in the practice or event. Exceptions to this would be absences from school due to participation in a school-related activity (i.e.: SEMYO, or Regional Science Fair).
Attendance and Appointments
If appointments must be made during school hours, a written (hsattendance@rcsmn.org) or verbal request (507) 288-8818) from the child’s parent/guardian is required in advance. Adults are asked to meet students in the office and then sign them out for early dismissal or appointments. If someone other than a parent will be picking up a student for early dismissal, the office must be notified. No student may leave the school premises at any time without authorization of the parent/guardian and approval of the principal. The school does not accept responsibility for any student who leaves the premises without permission.

Attendance Policy for School Masses and Assemblies
Lourdes High School, as a Catholic school community of faith, holds the celebration of the liturgy to be the central expression of our faith. When families choose Lourdes, they choose not only a non-public school, but a non-public Catholic school, a community of faith. The central expression of that faith is the celebration of Mass. All students, regardless of religious tradition, are expected to attend all liturgical celebrations. The level of participation may be different for different people. However, everyone who is a member of Lourdes is expected to participate with his or her reverent presence. Every “All School” gathering should be attended by everyone in the community. These include Masses, assemblies, convocations, etc. These are all integral activities to the education of our students.
