After an extensive and thoughtful search process, we are extremely excited to announce that Ms. Annemarie Vega will be the new President of Rochester Catholic Schools (RCS) beginning August 30, 2021. Ms. Vega comes to RCS from her role as Director of Enrollment at the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE) in Minneapolis, MN.
"We have been very purposeful in our pursuit to find the right person who will lead RCS as we grow our schools and strengthen our mission of providing a premier education focused on whole child excellence," said Dr. John Wald, Co-Chair of the RCS Board of Trustees. "Ms. Vega brings innovative experience, proven leadership, and a deep devotion to Catholic education that will guide our schools and students into the future."
Ms. Vega has nearly 15 years of experience as a bilingual business leader in Catholic education from preschool through high school. She has promoted change and growth with results-based success in marketing, communications, enrollment, and fundraising. Prior to her role with CSCOE, she was Director of Admissions and Communications at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
At CSCOE, Ms. Vega was instrumental in stabilizing declining enrollment among 79 schools throughout the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN, and within the last year, led a team that increased K-8 enrollment by more than 1,000 students. She also worked with the schools and parishes on initiatives for preschool expansion, pricing, and staffing and managed Latino enrollment efforts to successfully recruit 350 students over three years.
"I look forward to building meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, families, and supporters to continue the excellent work of RCS and welcome more families into the RCS community," said Ms. Vega. "The greatest gift my parents gave me as a child was a Catholic education. I am passionate about sharing this gift so more students can discover their God-given potential."
Ms. Vega plans to work closely with faculty and staff to deliver a high-quality education with robust, instructional leadership in partnership with Matt Langsdale, RCS Lead Administrator and Principal of the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Middle School. She will oversee all five RCS schools and the Central Office.
"A top priority will be collaborating with RCS leadership and faculty to sustain and enhance academic excellence," said Ms. Vega.
She is committed to strong management of resources within a strategic academic and business model. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Elementary Education from Marquette University, Ms. Vega earned a Master of Business Administration in Nonprofit Management from the University of St. Thomas.
"With her dedication to Catholic education and business expertise, Ms. Vega will lead RCS in making a greater impact in our schools and throughout our community," said Dr. Wald. "We are excited to welcome her into the RCS family."
